Saturday of Lazarus is the first day of Holy Week. We bake sweet spiced Lenten breads called ‘Lazarakia’.
They are shaped like a man, the arms folded and wrapped in burial cloths.
This symbolises Lazarus when Jesus Christ raised him from the dead after four days in the tomb.
