The “Byzantine Christmas Carol” «Άναρχος Θεός καταβέβηκε», is a Greek Christmas carol in Byzantine Greek associated with the city of Kotyora on the Black Sea (now the modern day Ordu, Turkey). The lyrics of the carol date back to around the 11th Century AD. These carols have 24 theological lyrics each starting with a letter of the Greek alphabet.
