Carols of Spring "Chelinodismata" - Κάλαντα τησ 'Ανοιξης Χελιδονίσματα
The 1st of March is traditionally recognised as the beginning of spring in Greece, and it is the time when the swallows (chelidonia) return home. To celebrate the end of winter and the coming of the swallows, the Carols of Spring are sung "χελιδονίσματα", which express the joys of spring. This is an ancient Greek tradition.
